Weekend Getaway with Ford C-Max Energi

This past weekend, my best friend & I decided to go on a little staycation- to unwind, drink some bellinis and do some shopping. Mind you, our little staycation was in Montreal, some 200 kms away so we needed to get there in style and comfort.

Style and comfort was exactly how we got there with the 2016 Ford C-MAX Energi! I know much more about fashion and DIYs than I do about cars but one thing I know for sure about this car is that it is basically two cars in one- having both an electric motor AND a gasoline engine!
My friend was the one who did the driving that weekend but I was one happy passenger in the super comfortable cabin. I did notice that the extra electric juice helped quicken the acceleration slightly. The car would go from zero to 100 km in less than 10 seconds and we got to Montreal in a mere 1h and 35 mins so you could stay we were speeding but never felt like we were ! I wouldn't be exaggerating when I say it was the smoothest ride I've ever taken.

We didn't do much driving in Montreal but we're happy to find a hotel that would kindly charge the car for us overnight ! For the 3 days we drove around the mostly downtown core of the city, we didn't waste a litre of gas! With just 120 volts, it takes a full night to recharge the car but a 240 volt charger would do the job in about 2.5 hours. If you have a charger to top up while at work, you coils drive up to 20 miles each way on electric power alone! That feature definitely sold me on the car but there's so much more to love!
I also really liked the sound system; the option to automatically connect your smartphone to the car on Bluetooth was great. This feature enables the drive to receive calls while driving without being distracted. As soon as your phone was connected to the car, you had access to your contacts from your phone; you also had the options to add few contacts as “favorites” – for easy accessible.(Ford’s Sync lets you use your voice to make a call, listen to music (you have accesses to over 50 + more radio stations), voice control). The Voice-activated SYNC technology also helps you keep your eyes on the road and your hand on the wheel.

I asked my friend who drove the car that weekend about her thoughts on the car. Here is what she had to say:

"The drive was very smooth, you can be going over 140km/h without feeling anything. The car is very efficient on gas, the electric option is definitely a plus; The rear view camera was very convenient as this feature makes parking and backing up much more easier and safer. One thing I grew
to love was the fully/well developed voice navigation system. With this technology, you can save few addresses as favorites such as: Your home address, your bbf address/ or significant other. With the navigation system, I like the fact that if the car was in “Driving mode”, the system will not let you make any changes, not until the car was in “parking mode”, this system is very good for safely purposes (although annoying at first) but you learn to appreciate it. Overall I would rate the car 4.5 out of 5. I really enjoyed driving this car, when I am ready to buy my first new car, this model with definitely be the first one I will consider."

Disclaimer: Ford Canada kindly offered the C-MAX Energi for me to drive for a week. All opinions expressed are my own.
